“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” —Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV)

Having established in the first part of this article the importance of putting your trust in God, you must understand that this is how you can easily prevail over depression. Trusting God will calm your heart and put you in a place of control and peace. It gives you confidence and helps you to make the right decisions and take the right actions.

I remember being very depressed years ago. It was so bad that I would always prefer to sleep because only there could I find a sense of peace and safety. As soon as I was awake, all the anxiety, fear, and sadness would come rushing back. This continued for a long time until God began to show me that I didn’t truly trust Him or His word.

At first, I tried to shrug it off, but that thought kept returning. So, I decided to get back into the word of God and study. As I did this, my faith in God started getting stronger, and I discovered that all the fear and sadness began to disappear. As I continued on this path, my faith grew stronger than my fears, and that was how I took back control of my mind and my life.

I encourage you today to give no place to the devil. Refuse to walk in fear or entertain the wrong thoughts. Sometimes the devil will say to you, “You are alone in this, your world is crumbling, and no one is coming to save you.” Listen, don’t give in to such words because he is only trying to get you to agree with that thought. He knows that if he can get you to agree, he can have his way in your life.

However, if you rebuke that thought and toss it aside, it will have no power over you, and you will keep the devil at bay. So, ignore those thoughts and hold on to Scripture, especially promises like this one: “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” —Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV). If you gather promises like this from the Bible, dwell on them daily, and simply believe, depression will flee from you, and you will triumph over the situations of your life. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

No matter what negative thoughts the devil brings to your mind, if you do not agree with them, depression will have no power over you!

Confession for the day

I have not been given a spirit of fear or sadness; therefore, I refuse to give in to fear and sadness. I refuse to allow depression into my life because I know who I am and whose I am. I know that the Lord is with me, and He has given me victory through the finished work of Christ. Hallelujah!
