“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” —Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV)
As a believer, one of the things you must make up your mind to do is to prevail over depression. No matter what you are going through, refuse to allow it. You will be tempted, but stand your ground and let joy win instead. How, you might ask? By putting your trust in God and letting the joy of the Lord be your strength.
Today, we see too many people giving in to depression. Often, the reason this happens is a lack of trust or faith in God. They don’t trust God enough to handle their problems or truly believe He cares enough to do something about their situation. So, they slip into depression, not realizing that it isn’t a solution to whatever they are going through.
Beloved, if you want to defeat depression and overcome it completely, the secret is to trust God with your life. What do I mean by that? Abandon yourself totally to the King of Kings. Know that He is God and He can do “exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think.” You must cast your care on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
Part of trusting the Lord is casting your cares on Him, just as the Scriptures say, and letting Him put things in place for you. In our opening text, the Bible says, “Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” —Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV). Did you see that?
These are not mere words; they are powerful. The question is, do you believe them? If you do, stake your life on them, because God will surely give you the desires of your heart. So I encourage you today: trust in the Lord with all your heart, and refuse to let depression win. Hallelujah!
