Battle Ropes

Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. —1 Corinthians 10:12 (NKJV)

One common mistake many believers make is focusing intensely on their physical growth while ignoring their spiritual development. They spend significant time and resources caring for their appearance, their health, and their style. However, when it involves their spiritual walk, they often remain stagnant because they do not realize its importance. They fail to recognize that the spirit is their true essence and that spiritual conditions often dictate physical outcomes.

Over time, many lives have deteriorated or moved in negative directions simply because of the condition of the heart. These individuals have matured in every worldly area except for their spiritual life. Sadly, suggestions to prioritize spiritual growth are often dismissed because the reality of the spirit man remains misunderstood. You must understand that your spiritual health is the foundation upon which your entire life is built.

The real you is the inner man, also known as the man of the Spirit. All the blessings and new creation realities promised by the Father reside within this inner man. If you are going to experience these realities in your daily life, you must learn to care for your spirit. Just as your body requires nutrients, your inner man requires specific food to grow and sustain you.

Without this spiritual nourishment, your inner man becomes weak and unable to produce the results you desire. Spiritual weakness makes you more vulnerable to various afflictions and attacks. The Scripture highlights this truth by saying, The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but as for a broken spirit, who can raise it up or bear it? —Proverbs 18:14 (AMPC)

I encourage you to make a conscious decision today to prioritize your spiritual growth. Deliberately feed on the Word of God and meditate on its truths every day. Pray in the spirit constantly and distance yourself from any activities that drain your spiritual strength. As you do this, I pray that the Master will strengthen you with might in your inner man according to Ephesians 3:16.
