“…other people are like the seeds sown among the thorn bushes. These are the ones who hear the message, but the worries about this life, the love for riches, and all other kinds of desires crowd in and choke the message, and they don’t bear fruit…” Mark 4:18-19 (GNT)
If there is one thing you must be careful about as you walk with God, it is that you must not allow anything to choke the word of God in your life. Now, I know this might sound a little strange, but the truth remains that the word of God can be frustrated or choked in the life of a man. And when this happens, the word of God is not able to produce the results that it talks about. It becomes powerless in your life because there is something resisting its potency in your life.
Therefore, to avoid such incidents from taking place, it is better that you do all you can not to allow anything to choke the word of God in your life. Now, just in case you are not sure of the things that can choke God’s word in your life, we will be looking at a few of these things that you need to pay close attention to.
In our opening text, our Lord Jesus Christ was explaining the parable of the sower, and He said, “…other people are like the seeds sown among the thorn bushes. These are the ones who hear the message, but the worries about this life, the love for riches, and all other kinds of desires crowd in and choke the message, and they don’t bear fruit…” Mark 4:18-19 (GNT). Did you see that? Worries about this life, the love for riches, and other ungodly desires are some of the things that can choke the word of God in your life. When you become too focused on the pursuit of these things, the word of God will be powerless in your life. So, make a conscious decision to become mindful of these pitfalls and let there be moderation in all that you do. Praise God!

My Lord and my God, I thank you for opening my eyes to this wonderful truth today. I refuse to be carried away by the cares of this word or the deceitfulness of riches and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I decree that the word of God is living and active in my life in Jesus name. Amen!
