For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. —2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
As you grow in your Christian walk, one of the things you must fight to overcome is fear. Fear is a primary tool the Devil uses to incapacitate your faith, torment your thoughts, and oppress your spirit. You must understand that fear is not merely an emotion; it is a spirit that seeks to take over your life and control your actions.
How do you fight back and kick this spirit out of your life? First, you need to know and believe what the Bible says concerning fear. The Spirit which you have received from the Father is not the spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and a sound mind. Because the spirit of fear is not part of the inheritance you received from God, you are not supposed to entertain it.
Instead, you must recognize its presence and cast it out immediately. Secondly, you need to realize that because this spirit is not of God, it has no legal place in your life. You must refuse to give it any room to operate. When you sense its presence, kick it out before it takes over your soul and begins to dictate your movements.
When you do this, you are making room for the Spirit of the Lord to manifest boldness and courage within you. Make a conscious decision to never give in to fear, regardless of the news you hear or the situation you find yourself in. No matter the difficulty you face, never allow fear to dominate your perspective.
Always remember that you have received the spirit of love, power, and a sound mind, and with these, you are sure to prevail. You are equipped to overcome every challenge because the Spirit of the Lord is with you, upholding you with His righteous right hand.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Behold, all those who were incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced; they shall be as nothing, and those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them—those who contended with you. Those who war against you shall be as nothing, as a nonexistent thing. For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’ —Isaiah 41:10-13 (NKJV)
