If we are rich and see others in need, yet close our hearts against them, how can we claim that we love God? —1 John 3:17 (GNT)
As you grow in your Christian walk, one of the things God wants you to do more is to give and never close your eyes to the needy. Unfortunately, many believers do not live like this; they often ignore those who are in genuine distress. This is not how the Father wants us to respond. God wants us to be His outstretched hands to those who are suffering. We were not blessed for ourselves alone. He blessed the works of your hands so that you can become an answer to the cry of others.
The Scriptures make it clear that our labor has a dual purpose: to sustain our lives and to empower our generosity. One of the primary reasons God wants you to work is so that you can earn an honest living and possess the means to assist those who have nothing.
If you used to rob, you must stop robbing and start working, in order to earn an honest living for yourself and to be able to help the poor. —Ephesians 4:28 (GNT)
When God helps you and you refuse to help the poor, you are breaking the divine supply chain. This is not what He intends for His children. You must not let the blessings of God stop with you. Instead, learn to let them extend to others, because your giving is God’s system for reaching out to a hurting world.
It is true that there are people who play on emotions just to get money, but you must not let that deter your heart. Move by the Spirit of God and use spiritual discernment to identify real needs. Remember that your security is tied to your generosity.
Give to the poor and you will never be in need. If you close your eyes to the poor, many people will curse you. —Proverbs 28:27 (GNT)
When you extend your hand to those in need, you are not just helping a human being; you are engaging in a spiritual transaction with the Creator Himself.
When you give to the poor, it is like lending to the Lord, and the Lord will pay you back. —Proverbs 19:17 (GNT)
Be willing to extend your hands to those in need today. When you do, you align yourself with the very nature of the Father, and He will ensure that your own needs are perpetually met. Praise God!
