Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness… — James 1:21 (NKJV)

As you grow in your Christian walk, you must deliberately eliminate wickedness from your life. You will inevitably face betrayal, maltreatment, and unfair dealings. You may experience wickedness from strangers in the world or even from those closest to you. Regardless of how others treat you, refuse to become wicked in return. Instead, ensure your response is born out of love, because this is exactly how God wants us to respond.

You cannot claim to walk in love while simultaneously expressing wickedness toward others. These two paths do not work together. Love is never wicked; therefore, those who walk in love must reject all forms of malice. You might feel that because you have experienced so much mistreatment, you are entitled to be “a little wicked” back. However, you must not let the behavior of others transform you into a wicked person.

People who practice wickedness rarely come to a good end. The Bible describes the path of the wicked as one of perversity and constant evil. A worthless person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth; he winks with his eyes, he shuffles his feet, he points with his fingers; perversity is in his heart, he devises evil continually, he sows discord. Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; suddenly he shall be broken without remedy. — Proverbs 6:12-15 (NKJV)

Surely, you do not want to face such an end, so resolve today to refuse wickedness. Do not allow people or difficult situations to corrupt your character or harden your heart. Stand firm in your identity as a child of God, knowing that wickedness does not give security, but righteous people stand firm. — Proverbs 12:3 (GNT)

Wickedness does not give security, only righteousness does!

Prayer

Father, I am grateful for this wonderful exposé. I reject wickedness in all its forms and I refuse to be a wicked person. Love has been shed abroad in my heart; therefore, everywhere I go, I am manifesting the love of God and not wickedness in Jesus’ name. Amen!
