Are any among you in trouble? They should pray. Are any among you happy? They should sing praises. — James 5:13 (GNT)
Now that we understand God wants us to align with Him, you might ask, “How do I pray to know exactly what God wants me to fix?” It is simple! There are two key steps you must take. First, set aside twenty-one days for prayer and consecration.
During these three weeks, stay away from distractions so you can focus on God through prayer, fasting, and studying the Word. Choose a fast that you can commit to and remain consistent. This process is essential because it increases your spiritual sensitivity and discernment. When God points out the area you need to work on, you will be ready to act.
Secondly, make a conscious decision to seek God’s heart regarding the matter rather than just His hand. Usually, people approach God with a list of requests. While this isn’t bad, it shouldn’t be the first step. Instead, approach God with a repentant heart and ask for mercy in areas where you may have walked in error.
Ask Him to search your heart and point out areas where you need to make amends. These are the prayers you should offer during the first week of your exercise. In the second week, ask God for the grace to walk the path He has set for you. Pray to frustrate any demonic structures intended to hinder your progress.
By the third week, you should ask God for the specific changes you desire. In many cases, these changes will already begin to manifest because the root cause has been addressed. Approach God the right way and don’t rush for solutions on day one. Deal with the blockades first, and everything else will fall into place.
When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He said: In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. — Matthew 6:9-10 (NKJV). After giving adoration to God, the next priority is His will. Focus on establishing His will for your life, and everything else will follow.
Remember, the Bible says: Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. — Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV). If you follow the right protocols, you will surely find mercy and grace. If nothing happens after the first twenty-one days, repeat the process. By the time you complete three cycles of twenty-one days, you will surely hear from heaven.
