“How long will you lie down, O sluggard?  When will you arise from your sleep?”… Proverbs 6:9-11

In life, one thing you must understand is that success, prosperity and achievement cannot be found in a place of comfort. Therefore, it is important to note that to stand out in life and have extraordinary results; you must take spirituality very seriously. Avoid spiritual laziness by all means. Do not be deceived by people who live a carefree life and give no attention to spiritual matters. People who do that are at the mercy of the devil and his manipulation. As far as the world is concerned there will always be hurdles, difficulties and challenges fueled by forces of darkness that will come to you, all with the intention to frustrate you. The bible already told us in Ephesians 6:12 that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places….” Meaning that there are forces to contend with in life and these forces are spiritual. If you must have an advantage over them, then you must be spiritually alert. This is the reason you must avoid every form of spiritual laziness because if you don’t the consequences can be disastrous.

Spiritual laziness manifests when you start avoiding going to church or participating in church activities. It manifests when you are struggling to pray, refusing to fast for days, staying away from the word of God, refusing to go for prayer meetings or house fellowship. It happens, when you begin to see reasons why you should not participate in all these programs but you see, you must avoid giving in to these desires because they will ruin you in the long run. It is the plan of the devil to keep you spiritually weak because he knows that when you are weak spiritually, you are no longer a threat to him. So, he makes sure that you lose your passion for these exercises and gives you genuine reasons why you should not participate in these things. But when you notice that you are no longer having zeal for participating in things that has to do with God, you need to realize that you have fallen for the deceit of the devil and the only way you can overcome this, is to stand your ground on God’s word and do the things that you are supposed to do. Let the zeal for the things of the Lord and matters of the Spirit consume you. So “…be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord…”- 1 Corinthians 15:58

Today’s Rhema

When spiritual laziness is not avoided the consequences can be disastrous!

Confession for the Day

By the anointing of God’s Spirit, I declare that I am steadfast in the things of the Spirit and I choose to be spiritually alert and I walk in the grace to maintain this fervency in the name of Jesus. I refuse to give in to any form of complacency and I declare that great zeal for spiritual matters is burning in me. Praise God!
