“… .do not be afraid, the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them. And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha….” —2 Kings 6:17 (NIV)

In the opening scripture we see through the words of Prophet Elisha that his servant was scared of the large crowd that had come against them. But the response of the man of God showed that of true courage and confidence in the Lord of host. In the face of that challenge, Elisha for once, never doubted whether God was with them or not. Instead, he prayed to God to open the eyes of his servants so that his confidence in the power of God would not dwindle. The Lord opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant to see the host of angels on horses that accompanied them even though they could not be physically seen. Now, from this, we see that there is a lot to learn from this story. It shows us that God is always on our side and we are surrounded by a host of angels, but because we do not see them, we do not always realize that they are there.

Beloved, when the enemy comes against you, they come in large numbers, in order to bring fear to your heart or destabilize you. But as a child of God, you have nothing to be afraid of, because it’s not in us to be afraid of numbers. It is not about how large the size of the enemy may be. Whether they be a thousand or a million, even if the enemy comes against you in trillions, it doesn’t make any difference. The Holy Spirit with us is more than they all. The philistine had a large army and they also had Giants that accompanied them to the battlefield against the Israelite army. The Israelites trembled at their large number and the size of the Giant that accompanied them, but it took one young man, in the person of King David to bring down the army of the Philistine and Goliath of Gath. Though they were many in number, their number did not matter anymore, when their giant was defeated they all fled. (Reference scripture 1 Samuel 17) So, no matter what you are going through right now, refuse to be intimidated. You have in you, all you need to overcome any situation, and that is the person of the Holy Spirit. But to witness the power of the intervention of the Holy Spirit, you have to acknowledge His role in your life and encourage His ministry in your life. If you can allow the Holy Spirit, to gain expression in you, whatever mountain that is standing before you, will fall down flat. Praise God!

Psalm 91:7 (NIV). Amen!
