“….for you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another…”Galatians 5:13 (NKJV)

When we take a very close look at our opening text, the Bible says, we have been called to liberty, meaning in Christ Jesus we have the liberty of the Spirit. We have the liberty to do anything we want. However, we must be conscious not to abuse this liberty that has been given to us. Over the years, many have capitalized on this liberty and have used it as an opportunity to walk in the flesh which is not supposed to be. Living according to the dictates of the flesh, all in the name of liberty is an abuse of liberty. Therefore, it is Important that as your journey in your walk with God, you do not take advantage of your liberty in Christ in a wrong way. In our opening  text, the Bible clearly says “…do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another…”Galatians 5:13 (NKJV). Did you see that?

It is true that in Christ Jesus you are free, but you must not forget that there is something called the law of restriction. This law keeps us away from getting involved in activities that will destroy us. For example, you do not say am free in Christ Jesus, therefore let me sleep with a married person. Such activity will destroy you. However, to avoid such things you must keep away from such desire of the flesh. In the book of 1 Corinthians 8:9, Paul the apostle specifically admonished us, saying “… beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak….“I Corinthians 8:9 (NKJV). In another part of the scripture, Paul the apostle also admonished us saying, “…All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being….”I Corinthians 10:23 ‭-‬ 24 (NKJV). Did you see that? This lets us know that we have a responsibility to uphold liberty in our lives and not abuse it. We ought to use our liberty to serve others and point them to Christ, and not send them away from Christ. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

Let your liberty in Christ bring people to Christ and not send them away!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for the liberty you have given to me in Christ Jesus. I choose to take advantage of it in a positive way. I choose to use it to serve my neighbors and point them to Christ and not the other way round in the name of Jesus. Amen!
