“…However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come….“John 16:13 (NKJV)
The internet today is full of controversial information, and this can go a long way to corrupt your beliefs or even mislead you in your walk with God. This information can keep you far from God, make you judgmental towards people and make you believe in lies. But as a believer, you must make a conscious decision to depend on the Holy Spirit to help discern between a lie and the truth. The mistake many believers make today is that they believe whatever they read or hear on the internet. They make decisions and judgements based on whatever anyone comes up with as the truth and trust me, this has destroyed the faith of many believers. This has made many of God’s people to slide back in their walk with God. Why? Because after hearing what they heard, they did not subject it to the scale of God’s Spirit to know if what they heard or read was the truth or not. They just believed it and it influenced them negatively, which shouldn’t be.
Beloved, you must understand that the only one assigned to guide you in the truth is the Holy Spirit and not the internet. The internet has its advantages, but it is not a reliable source of truth. The truth about God, His word, statutes, commands and principles can only be found through the Holy Spirit. He is the true source of the truth. He is the one that helps you to know if what you have heard or read is the truth or not. He is the one of whom the Lord Jesus said, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will tell you things to come….”John 16:13 (NKJV). So, as you journey in your walk with God, I encourage you to learn to subject whatever you hear to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He will bear witness with your spirit, and let you know if what you have heard is the truth or not.
Today’s Rhema
No matter how true a piece of information might sound, learn to depend on the Holy Spirit for the truth!
Confession for the Day
Thank Father, because as I go about my Christian walk, I am walking by the truth. I refuse to be misguided or to be hasty in my judgments. I will continually depend on the Holy Spirit for the truth in the name of Jesus. Amen!
