“…if you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you…” —John 15:7 (NKJV)

In the first part of this article, we established that it is good to not only receive the person of Jesus, but you also need to take His principles seriously. Now, remember, if you are going to take the principles of our Lord Jesus Christ seriously, you must delight yourself in His word. Believe it, understand it, and put them to work. Beloved, there is something about the words of Jesus that you must not ignore. There are lots of people who are only following Jesus because He is their Lord and Savior, which is not a bad idea at all, but they neglect His words. If you are not doing the things Jesus Christ says you should, it becomes impossible to have the success that He has destined for you.

Listen, it is not enough to say I am in Christ and I love Him, the question is,  do you have His words in you? A genuine walk with Jesus Christ depends solely on this. He said in our opening scripture, “…if my words abide in you,” meaning that He wants you to have His words abide in your heart so that when you speak, you will speak His words, and when you act, you will act on His words. He wants the thoughts and ideas that His words carry to supplant your thoughts and ideas. He wants the character of His words to fully reflect in your life, for only then can you manifest the glory of the kingdom. So I encourage you to consider these things. Purposefully, work on having His words in your heart so you can do them. Don’t only hear His words; do them, for that is where the efficacy of the word lies. No wonder He said in Matthew 7:24, the message translation, “…these words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock…” God bless you!

Confession for the Day

Heavenly Father, I thank you for revealing your thoughts to me. I thank you for helping me realize how important it is to embrace your words and do them in my life. Therefore, I declare that with the help of the Spirit, I will run my life based on the principles of Jesus Christ which are found in His words. Hallelujah!
