“Then Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying, ‘Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.’ And Shaphan read it before the king. Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, that he tore his clothes.” — 2 Kings 22:10–11 (NKJV)

Do you know that the direction in which your life goes, is dependent on how much knowledge you have? If your knowledge is limited, your outcome will be limited. The reason this is important is because when you understand this truth, it becomes easy to determine your outcome by going for the right information.

There are people today who are unable to determine the outcome of life because they feel they have no control of it. But that is not completely true. To an extent, you can determine your outcome by programming yourself with the right knowledge. When you are armed with the right knowledge, it will Influence your imagination, thoughts, words and actions. Therefore, I encourage you to go for knowledge.

Now, in going for knowledge you must not neglect the knowledge of God’s word. Why? Because this is the kind of knowledge you need to make the right decisions and take the right actions that are in line with God’s purpose for your life. God’s word is truth, it is life and it is light. If you want to live by the truth, and have your path flooded with light, then God’s word is the way to go.

You might wonder how important the Word of God is. When you study the lives of the kings of Israel, you’ll find that many of them walked in error and walked in ways that were unpleasant to the Lord. They led their people to sin against God and all these happened because they didn’t know what was written in the book of the law.

Then came king Josiah. At a time of great revival in Judah, the Book of the Law was found while repairing the temple. And the moment he read from the book, he realized they were in error. All these while he and the people were ignorant because the Law of the Lord had been neglected for many years. The Bible says: “Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, that he tore his clothes.” (2 Kings 22:11 NKJV). He immediately began to take actions to set things right. From the moment he knew what was written in the book, every action he took came as a result of what he had discovered from the book.

This is why I encourage you to hunger after God’s word. Cultivate your appetite for it, because it will influence your life, shape your actions and set you in the right path. Halleluiah!
