“…and those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires…” Galatians 5:24 (NKJV)
As a Christian, one of the things you must do to walk in the path of righteousness as expected of you by God is to crucify the flesh with its desires. The reason is that before you gave your life to Christ, your flesh was the boss. You were literally a slave to the flesh. You were willing to give the flesh anything it desired, but where did that lead you? Nowhere, because all that the flesh desires adds no value to you. It only gives you temporary gratification but adds nothing positive to your life. It adds no relevant earthly value or eternal value to you. No wonder the Bible says, “The flesh lusts against the Spirit; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” (NKJV) Galatians 5:17. Therefore, make it a point of duty to crucify the flesh and its desires. When you do so, you are the one who stands to gain from it because the Bible says, “he who sows to the flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” Galatians 6:8 (NKJV).
Meaning, if you follow your fleshly desires and sow to them, you will reap corruption (decay, ruin, and destruction), but if you follow the leading of the Spirit and sow to the things of the Spirit, you will reap everlasting life (peace, joy, and progress). So, choose this day to crucify the flesh and its desires. You might say, but how do I do this? It’s simple. The next time you feel like fulfilling the desires of the flesh, refuse to give in to them. Ignore that desire and replace it with a spiritual activity. When you start doing this initially, it may seem difficult, but remember that with the Holy Spirit in you, you can do all things. And as time goes on, you will completely die to the flesh and its desires. If you somehow find it difficult to handle the flesh, you may need to fast and pray about it because you may just be dealing with a demonic situation, as demons always try to take advantage of our fleshly desires to gain expression. Whatever the case, you must fight to ensure that you are not body ruled by Spirit-led. Hallelujah!
Today’s Rhema
All that the flesh desires adds no value to you, rather it brings problems. Therefore, crucify the flesh and its desires!
Confession for the Day
