Lust can blind our views and limit perspective - pictured as word Lust on eyes to symbolize that Lust can distort perception of the world, 3d illustration

So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Genesis 4:6-7 NKJV

In the opening text we see when the Lord God was having a dialogue with Cain. This was before Cain killed his brother. God warned him and told him that sin lies at the door and sin is desiring him and he was specifically instructed by God to rule over sin. Cain didn’t listen to God, instead he plotted against his brother, and when he had the opportunity he killed him.

This gave me an understanding that nothing suddenly happens to man. No man  sudden cheats on his wife, no man suddenly steal money from his master and no one suddenly murders is neighbor, no lady suddenly enters into prostitution. These things happen because the act of sin is controlled by spirits who are always lying in wait or waiting at the door of a man’s heart and they do this  because their only intention is to rule over man so that the man does not fulfill his calling. But there is a way to handle it, and the only way according to God’s word to Cain, is to rule over sin and its abominations.

As a Christian, if you truly want to win in life, you have a responsibility to control your lusts. The lust to take what does not belong to you, the lust that makes you excessively angry, and the lust for wealth. There is no sinful act you commit that happened by chance. They happened because you didn’t put the word of God to work. God’s word to Cain was, “if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Genesis 4:7 NKJV. Sin will always desire man, God gives us the power to put it under subjection. This is the only way to win, rule and reign in life. Amen!

Today’s Rhema

I’m not a slave to sin therefore, sin and its controls cannot rule over me!

Confession for the Day

Lord you are great, and great is your faithfulness. I declare that I’m in control of my life and sinful lust and desires have no power over me. I declare that the door to my heart is closed to satanic voices that lead to sinful acts in Jesus’ name. Amen!
