“…then the angel said to her, “….do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS…” Luke 1:30-31 (NKJV)
When we take a look at the story in our opening text, we see when an angel appeared to Mary to give her a promise from God the Father. The angel told her she would conceive and give birth to a child whose name was going to be called Jesus. Now, when this promise was made, it didn’t look as though it would manifest but guess what it finally did manifest and today, when we celebrate Christmas, we are celebrating Jesus Christ, who was once a promise to the world. Remember, years before the angel came to give Mary that promise, the prophets of old had prophesied His coming again and again. Isaiah the prophet prophesied about it (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6), Micah also prophesied about it (Micah 5:2) and many others also spoke about it. Today, what we celebrate as Christmas was once a promise that has now been fulfilled in our eyes.
Now, this lets us know that God does not make promises carelessly. If He has said a thing, then it will surely come to pass. So, as you celebrate Christmas this year, I want you to remember that God still fulfils promises. The question is what has God promised you over the years? Is it taking very long? Well, no matter how long it has become, I want you to know that if God can fulfill the promise of sending His son Jesus to die for the world after many years, He will fulfill that promise that He has made to you. And just like we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ the promise of the Father this season, you will celebrate those promises that God has made to you, only believe. The challenge most of the time is that we find it very difficult to believe sometimes, but this is the reason for this article. It is to remind you that if God can fulfill His promise of sending our Lord Jesus Christ to pay the ultimate price for you, there is no promise He will live unfulfilled in your life.
Today’s Rhema
If only you can believe, that promise God has made will surely come to pass!
Confession for the Day
Father, I am grateful for this wonderful reminder that you have brought to me today. I choose to keep my focus on all your promises for me and as I do, they are manifesting in my life in Jesus name. Amen!
