“…but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such, there is no law…” Galatians 5:22 (NKJV)
Having established the importance of choosing to be joy in the first part of this article, you must understand that sadness does not change anything. Something I learnt many years ago is that no matter how sad you become, it does not change anything, so why stay sad? You must understand that nobody gets a trophy for staying sad, so avoid it. You might say but sir how is it possible to stay happy when things keep coming up that make you angry and bitter? Well, it is simple, refuse to allow the external affairs of things to determine the internal affairs of your life. It is just a decision you need to make.
No matter how things go wrong, do not allow your happiness to come from the things that happen around you. Rather, let your inner joy and peace control the things around you. You might now say but how can I make this happen? Just get rid of the sadness and choose to be happy. One of the fruits of the fruits that the Spirit of God produces in you, is joy. So lean on Him and you will be overwhelmed with joy. Fix your focus on Him and what He is doing in your life and refuse you see what the devil is doing. If you apply this little principle, you will be amazed how joyful you will be every day of your life. Remember, being joyful is nobody’s responsibility but yours. Only you can make it happen, so make it happen and put the devil where He belongs. If there is a situation on ground that is bringing you sadness, don’t get sad about it. Go to God in prayers and get it fixed. Remember, when “…the righteous cry out, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles…” Halleluiah!
Today’s Rhema
Sadness is never a solution for any problem, it only adds to it, so get rid of it!
Confession for the Day
Father, I thank you for helping me understand why sadness needs to be kept far from me, I declare that joy is my portion always and I choose to stay that way even when things seem not warrant it. Because I know that through my joy, I conquer all situations in the name of Jesus. Amen!
