“…that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man…” Ephesians 3:16 (NKJV)

Having established the importance of building your inner man (spirit-man), someone might say, how do we do this? Well, it is simple! Before anything, you need to understand the personality of your inner man. Your inner man is a spirit and when you understand this, you understand that the way to build the inner man is to engage in spiritual activities.

So, the very first step you need to take is to study God’s word on a daily basis. The word of God is the food for the inner man (the spirit man). The more you give yourself to studying and hearing the word of God, the more you strengthen your inner man. God’s word is the ingredient given to us, to build and strengthen our inner man. It is for this reason our Lord Jesus Christ, said, “…It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God…” Matthew 4:4 (NKJV). The man Jesus Christ was speaking about here was not just the physical man, but the inner man. So, take the word seriously.

The next thing that builds your inner man is prayer and fasting. And when I talk about prayers, I am talking about praying in the Spirit with fasting. When you pray in tongues very often and for longer hours on empty stomach, you are building and edifying your inner man. The Bible says “…He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself…” 1 Corinthians 14:3‭-‬4 (AMPC). Did you see that? You must cultivate the habit of speaking in tongues as much as you can because it helps you energize and empower your inner man.

The final one is that you must avoid immoral sexual activities. Beloved, you must understand this, sex in all its illegal forms weakens your inner man. It squeezes divine strength and glory out of your inner man and when this happens, it affects you physically. So, when you deliberately stay away from these immoral activities, you are building your inner man and every investment of prayer and the word into spirit will be preserved and not wasted. So, take caution and do the needful. Praise God!
