Man doing boxing

“…that’s why I run straight for the finishing line; that is why I am like a boxer who does not waste his punches…”- 1 Corinthians 9:26 (GNB)

As you journey in your Christian walk, one of the things you must make up your mind to do is to start doing things on purpose. When you live like this, you will achieve more results than you can ever imagine. In our opening scripture Paul, the apostle made a simple yet profound statement. He said, “I run straight for the finishing line; that is why I am like a boxer who does not waste his punches….” When you take a close look at the statement he made, he was talking about clarity of purpose and focus. Paul in his ministry had great results because he was focused on what he was doing. He didn’t do things because he wanted to just do them. Every move he made was purposeful and this helped him to focus on the goal to which he was called. When he was done, he was able to boldly say “…I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith…” 2 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV). This was his testimony; he was only able to speak like this because he did not waste his punches.

Now, if you want you truly want to see excellence and much result in your life, you must make a conscious decision not to waste your punches. In other words, deliberate efforts must be made to make every move you make a purposeful one. There are too many people in the world that are doing things without purpose. So they end up without getting the desired results as they wanted. However, this shouldn’t be your case. Cultivate the habit of doing things with focus and purpose. When you do this, your overall results will change for the better and you will be happier in your life and you will be able to speak like Paul the Apostle who said, I have fought a good fight. Hallelujah!
