“…now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in Church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that, miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues…” 1 Corinthians 12:27-28 (NKJV)
In the first part of this article, we discussed the importance of becoming useful and active in the body of Christ. Now, having heard that, someone might say, where do I begin? or how do I recognize the area where I am supposed to serve? Well, the first thing you need to do is make a decision to serve. You see, service to God begins from the decision you make. The reason most people have not given themselves to service is because they are not fully decided. Beloved, when you are fully decided, it becomes easy to serve. So, the first thing you must do, is to make that decision that you will join the labor force of the body of Christ.
The second thing you must do after you have made your decision, is to make yourself available to God. It is not enough to say I want to serve, you must also make a decision to be available. Your availability makes you prepared to be used by God. If you can do these two things then the rest of it becomes easy. Now, after you have made yourself available, you’ve to understand that there are no special signs to show the area where you are expected to serve. You just need to make a decision and join a group in church and start engaging in their activities. From there, as you continue to serve, your true calling will begin to unveil and in the long run, you will locate the area where God wants you to truly serve and make use of your gift at different points in time. So I encourage you today to make a conscious decision to take up responsibility. There is always a place to fit in if your mind is made up to serve. Stop watching people serve or be served. Choose to serve and your life will not remain the same. The blessings that go with serving and fulfilling your part in the body of Christ, can never come to you until you serve. So what are you waiting for? Make your first move today and be a blessing to someone out there through your service.
Today’s Rhema
Stop watching others serve or be served, rather be the one serving!
Confession for the Day
Father I thank you for this true and timely message which you have brought my way to bless me. My eyes are opened to see the need for fulfilling my part in the body of Christ. Therefore, I declare that I make myself available for service and as I serve, my gifts and callings are coming alive to benefit God’s people in the name of Jesus. Amen!
