“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” —Psalm 1:1–3 (NKJV)
Due to the emergence of the internet and other technological innovations, the world has become a global village. Today, you find smartphones, social networking sites, chat messengers, and more—tools that allow you to communicate with different people across the world, all at once and with little to no cost.
This development has made life easier and more interesting. However, the comforts and pleasures that come with these advancements have caused many to delight in these things above all else. People now spend hours on social media or chatting with friends at the expense of other more important things.
As a child of God, no matter how captivating these developments may be or how busy your schedule becomes, you must choose to make the Word of God your true delight. Cultivate a genuine craving for the Word. Let it interest you as much as—or even more than—your phone, social media, or anything else this world offers. The Word of God is life to you. It is a divine gift given for your profitable living.
If your interest isn’t in the Word, it reveals a lack of passion for God. In fact, it shows that you don’t truly know Him, because the Word of God is God Himself —John 1:1. You can’t claim to love God deeply and yet feel indifferent toward His Word. If you do love Him, you will seek out His Word, hunger to know more about Him, and look forward to hearing His voice—especially through church services and personal study.
The Bible says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” —1 Peter 2:2. So, desire the Word. Spend time with it. Meditate on it. Delight yourself in it. Let it be your final authority, and let it bring you satisfaction and contentment.
When your delight is in the Word of the Lord and you meditate on it daily, it nurtures your growth. As our opening scripture says, you will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever you do shall prosper —Psalm 1:3.
So, hearken to these words today and watch your life soar. It is God’s recommendation for profitable living. God bless you!

Confession for the Day
The Word of God is life to me—it is my very life. Therefore, my delight is in the Word. I will meditate on it day and night, and as I do so, I become like a tree planted by the riverside, whose leaves are green. I produce results at the right time, and nothing can stop me or hinder my progress, because I am unstoppable. I grow by the Word, I live by the Word, and I prosper by the Word, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
