Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. —Romans 12:15 (NKJV)
When you hear of the wonderful things God is doing in other people’s lives, how do you feel? Do you feel jealous or happy for them? Do you secretly think that blessing should have come to you instead?
Often, when people hear of what God has done in someone else’s life, there’s a natural temptation to feel envious—or to start thinking God hasn’t done anything for them. But that response is not from God. That’s not how He wants us to react to His blessings in the lives of others.
God wants us to be genuinely happy for others—not jealous. He wants us to rejoice with them and recognize that if He can do it for them, He can also do it for us. His blessings aren’t limited, and they don’t run out.
So, the next time you hear that someone has been blessed, rejoice with them. Be genuinely happy, knowing that God is in the neighborhood—and your own visitation is on the way.
Years ago, before our children came, we started hearing news about friends and people around us who were either pregnant or had just given birth. Each time we heard such news, we would rejoice and thank God on their behalf.
Then one day, we received similar news from someone very close to us. I turned to my wife and said, “We’re next.” That miracle was so close to us—and true to that word, we became the next to receive.
I share this to encourage you: when God blesses someone close to you, be genuinely joyful. Be happy for them, because it means your own miracle is near. Don’t entertain envy. God has different dates and timings mapped out for each of us.
Rejoice with others, and prepare for your own moment—it will surely happen. But when you give in to jealousy, you could unknowingly delay your own blessings.
