“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV)
As the year comes to an end, it’s easy for those who’ve faced rough times to feel discouraged or assume the future holds nothing better. Some might think, “If this year was unproductive, why expect next year to be different?” But is that perspective true? The answer is a resounding NO.
The challenges of one year do not dictate the potential of the next. Each new day brings fresh opportunities, and as believers, we must learn to approach the future with hope and excitement. Refuse to let this year’s setbacks or disappointments limit your vision for the year ahead. Instead, set clear, realistic, and achievable goals, and embrace the journey with anticipation and faith.
What’s happened in the past is behind you—irreversible and unchangeable. However, the future is a blank canvas, and you hold the brush. The Apostle Paul understood this principle and shared his perspective: “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV).
This is the mindset we are called to adopt. Let go of the past and look forward to what lies ahead. Be intentional about your aspirations, remain steadfast in your faith, and trust that God has great plans for your life. Hallelujah!
