“As His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.” — Luke 4:16 (NKJV)
Something I’ve noticed with many believers today is a lack of consistency in their walk with God. One day, they are praying fervently, declaring faith-filled words, and burning with passion for God. But the next day, they withdraw from all that, give excuses, and begin speaking negatively.
Child of God, this is not how the Lord wants us to live. He wants us to practice consistency in our relationship with Him. Inconsistency weakens the flow of grace and makes the power of God less effective in your life. But when you stay steady in your devotion, prayer life, and service, you position yourself to experience enduring spiritual growth and greater manifestations of God’s power.
When we look at the life of Jesus, we see that He modeled this principle perfectly. The Bible says, “as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.” (Luke 4:16). Did you catch that? “As His custom was”—meaning it was His consistent habit. He didn’t do it randomly or occasionally. The same pattern applied to His prayer life. Many times, Jesus would send the crowds and even His disciples away just so He could withdraw to pray (see Matthew 14:22-23). His consistency in spiritual discipline was a blueprint for us to follow.
So, I encourage you today: become consistent in every aspect of your walk with God. Be consistent in your prayer life, in attending church, in soul winning, in giving, and in living out your faith. Let your devotion to God not be seasonal but steady and enduring. When you do this, you’ll unlock dimensions of grace you never knew were possible. Hallelujah!
