“…she said to herself, “if only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well…” Matthew 9:21 (NKJV)

Having established in the first part of this article the importance of saying the right things to yourself from the story of the woman with the issue of blood, you must understand that the things you say to yourself goes a long way to determine what comes out of the challenge that you face. They determine your victory or your defeat. Imagine, if the woman had said to herself that there was no need to go out and meet Jesus because it won’t work, she would have died in that situation. But because she said the right things to herself, it propelled her to take one more last step that put an end to her predicament and today we are talking about it. If you want your results in life to be outstanding, learn to talk to yourself and not only so, learn to say the right things to yourself. Refuse to talk yourself down or be negative. In the past, many committed suicide for no reason because they said to themselves, “There was no reason to live any longer, let me take my life” and that was it. They ended their lives and still it never brought them a solution.

You’ve got to understand that you are your life coach and you need yourself more than you need anyone else. You are the right person to either discourage yourself or encourage yourself. So make a conscious decision to always be there for you and counsel yourself rightly. Because in the long run, they determine your victory or defeat. I remember reading of King David, who was greatly distressed because his family was taken captive and his men contemplated stoning him. But guess what, while all this was going on, King David tossed aside the matter at once and strengthened himself in the Lord. Another translation says he encouraged himself in the Lord (Scripture Reference: 1 Samuel 30:6). And when he did, he stepped into the right frame of mind and started thinking of how to solve the problem. He didn’t wait for anybody to come and encourage him, he did that to himself by himself. Letting us know that our role to ourselves cannot be over-emphasized.

Today’s Rhema

The things you say to yourself either bring you victory or defeat, so watch what you say to yourself!

Confession for the Day

I am saying the right things to myself and encouraging myself in the Lord daily. I refuse to say the wrong things to myself and no matter how shaky things might be, I am saying the right things to myself because I know who I am and I know my role in my life in the name of Jesus
