“…and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities – Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance…” Luke 8:2 (NKJV)
When we take a careful look at our opening text, we see a picture painted for us as an example of the kind of disciples we should be like as Christians. We see here certain women who had benefited from the ministry of Jesus Christ giving back to him and partnering with him of their substance. The message translation of the last part in the verse above says that the women used their considerable means to provide for Jesus and His disciples. At one point they had a spiritual need which Jesus took care of and in appreciation for what Jesus Christ had done, they decided to partner with him so that the work Jesus Christ was doing could spread well and spread fast. Now, this is an example every one of us should emulate as believers today. Because before we came to Christ, we all had several spiritual needs and since we encountered Christ, those needs have been met.
Today we are swimming in His glory and blessings. The question is what are we going to do in appreciation for the salvation we have received through our Lord Jesus Christ? We ought to be a part of His work and to do that, we have to use our substance (money, time, properties etc.) to propagate the Gospel. Unfortunately, many are not thinking in this direction. Why? Because we are living in a world today where people only want to take from God but are not willing to give towards advancing God’s course. To even render services to God is a hassle now. When you ask people to join a department, they will give you a million excuses. It’s not like God wants anything from us, but you see we are under obligation to give our time, resources and all towards the spreading of the Gospel because that is the way, we can extend to others what we have enjoyed in Christ Jesus. If we truly claim to love God then this is but a small thing to do for our maker. Hallelujah!

Confession for the Day
Father, I am grateful for this wonderful truth you have brought to me today. I choose to become a committed and consistent partner with the Gospel and as I do this, I am walking in the blessings that go with being a partner in Jesus’ name. Amen!
