Be always humble, gentle, and patient. Show your love by being tolerant with one another. —Ephesians 4:2 (GNT)

As a child of God, how tolerant are you in your dealings with people? Do you always find fault, or do you try to give people the benefit of the doubt? Beloved, if you are always looking for faults, it is an indication that you are not a tolerant person.

If you are always looking for weaknesses in people so that you can castigate or lash out at them, it means you are not patient. God wants you to make the necessary adjustments now because it will help you remain in His will and maintain good relationships.

You must understand that you are a representative of Jesus in your sphere of influence. Just as He tolerated people in His day, you are expected to tolerate others. Trust me, it is not an easy thing to do, because human beings have their shortcomings, and sometimes, these can be excessive.

However, you are expected to accommodate them, not push them away. One of the major mysteries of walking in love is learning to love people in both their strength and their weakness. If you take a close look at how God loves us, you will see that He loves us in our weakest points just as He does in our strongest.

God does not abandon us when we mess up or stumble in His Word. He still finds a way to let us know that He loves us despite our shortcomings. That is what it means to be tolerant.

Therefore, I encourage you today to become accommodating. Learn to look past people’s shortcomings and still love them for who they are. This attitude is called longsuffering, and it is part of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Begin today to treat people differently, knowing that when you do, you are manifesting the fruit of the Spirit.

Today’s Rhema

When you tolerate or accommodate others in their shortcomings, you are manifesting the fruit of the Spirit!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for this wonderful truth. I receive grace today to tolerate others, and as I do this, the blessings of tolerance follow me, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
