“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes… keep sound wisdom and discretion.” —Proverbs 3:5-6, 22 (NKJV)
Having established the truth about being a teachable believer, it is important that you understand that this truth can save your life. Do all you can to avoid an unteachable spirit, because it is a path that can bring you many frustrations. It is a state where nobody can add value to your life, and if you don’t add value, you will end up losing what value you already have. Understand this, people become unteachable when they begin to lean on or trust in their understanding. But the truth is that no matter how learned you are, you can never know it all, especially in the area of the scriptures. You must always be willing to learn from those on whom God has bestowed the privilege of teaching you.
If you want to be successful in life, then you must be willing to learn every day. The moment you start creating an atmosphere where you can’t be taught, you have automatically placed a limit on your growth in life. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that you take this truth seriously. Make up your mind that you will be willing to learn. And when you learn, do not learn analytically or critically, where you would want to analyze and criticize everything that you are being told. No, you learn with a listening mind and a willing heart. A good learner learns submissively and is open to new ideas. So make a conscious decision today to be a Christian who is teachable. All you need to do is identify sound teachings and submit to them. And you will be amazed at the wonderful impact that will come into your life. Praise God!
