It is one thing to understand God and His love; it is quite another to reciprocate this love. There are many people today who know a lot about God and how much He loves us. But the question is, do they reciprocate this love? The answer is no. Why? Well, the reason is that many do not understand that they are in a relationship with God and it is expected that they love God in return, not as a duty or as a religion, but as an act of love.
Beloved, you must understand that what makes a relationship balanced is when both parties involved are in love with each other. When both parties are in love with each other, it becomes easy to make sacrifices and go the extra mile for each other. Today, you find that because many are not genuinely lovers of God, they find it difficult to give to God or make sacrifices for God. They always find themselves choosing other things above God, which ought not to be so. It is in your best interest that you take out time to work on your love for God because you are expected to do so. In our opening text, our Lord Jesus Christ said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect)….” Matthew 22:37 (AMPC)
So, as your journey with God, it is of great importance that you take out time to cultivate your love for God. You might say, but how do I do this? Well, it is simple. It all starts with you thinking about God and His love for you. When you meditate on God’s love and the extra mile He has gone for you because of His love towards you, it becomes very easy to release your own love towards Him. So, meditate more on God’s love for you. Try to comprehend the magnitude of His love for you, and you will find yourself falling in love with him. Praise God!
