“…encourage the younger men to be sensible in every way. Offer yourself as a role model of good actions. Show integrity, seriousness, and a sound message that is above criticism…” —Titus 2:6-8 (CEB)
Previously on this subject, we discussed the importance of having good character, and we went further to highlight the fact that if you do not develop good character as a child of God, it can close doors in your life and cause people to go far from you. As a believer, you should ponder this truth very deeply. The reason is that until you begin to make important adjustments in your character because of the word of God, the word of God is not yet an influence in your life. The word of God is supposed to be your influence and your standard. So, as you journey in your walk with God, I encourage you to take this counsel seriously. Whatever area you need to work on, should be worked on immediately with the help of the Holy Spirit, because when you do, you become an example that people around you will want to emulate.
For example, in Paul’s writing in the book of Titus, he admonished Titus, saying, “…tell slaves to submit to their own masters and please them in everything they do. They shouldn’t talk back or steal. Instead, they should show that they are completely reliable in everything so that they might make the teaching about God our saviour attractive in every way…” Titus 2:9-10 (CEB) Did you see that? Paul admonished them to behave well so that the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ would be perceived well and be attractive to those who were not of the faith. This lets us know that as Christians, we have a Kingdom to represent and a message to protect; therefore, we are under obligation to behave well and let our character speak of the things we have learned from the word of God all these years. So I say to you, be a Christian with good character, and let your character draw men to God. Praise God!
Today’s Rhema
As Christians, we have a kingdom to represent and a message to protect; therefore, cultivate an admirable character that encourages other people to be a part of us!
Confession for the Day
Father, your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path; therefore, I declare that through the guidance I have gotten from your word today, I know what to do, and I begin the journey of deliberately cultivating a good character that will represent the kingdom well and place me amongst princes. Hallelujah!
