“…whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave – just as the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many…” Matthew 20: 27-28 (NKJV)
Do you know that true Christianity is all about service to God, His kingdom and to humanity? But sadly that is not the case today. Many have chosen to live the life of executive Christianity where they are unwilling to serve in the house of God or be useful to God and His kingdom. They prefer to come to church, listen to the word of God and go home. In most cases, when you ask them about it, they say, I just want to be a member, I don’t want to take any responsibility. But the question is, is that how God wants it? Certainly not! God wants us to be useful and be responsible in His house. He wants us to serve and not to be served because in service comes the blessings. And that is the fact. A Christian who is unwilling to take responsibility in the house of God makes himself of no relevance to God and His kingdom.
Beloved, you have to make up your mind not to be this way. You’ve got to understand that you have a role to play in the Body of Christ. Look for that purpose and start fulfilling your role. Until and unless you start fulfilling a role in the body of Christ, you cannot live a fulfilled life. This is something I discovered many years ago. There is a certain fulfillment you will not get unless you are actively involved in the work of the ministry and changing lives.
So I implore you today to become a serving Christian. Be the one serving not the one that is being served. Our Lord Jesus Christ said about Himself, that “the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many…” Matthew 20: 27-28 (NKJV). In that statement, He gave a perfect description of who a Christian is and what Christianity is all about. The earlier you start serving the better for you. Interestingly, if you truly want to walk in the blessings of service, you have to serve and be a plus to the Kingdom of God and to your sphere of contact. Let them see Jesus in you. Praise God!
