“For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me” — Job 3:25 (KJV).

Now, someone might say, “How do I effectively avoid the wrong imaginations when sometimes I am not able to control them?” Well, it is very simple. There are three important things you must do consistently to ward off wrong imaginations and allow the right ones.

The first thing you must do is stop watching or listening to the wrong kinds of content. These may include thirst traps, horror movies and the like. As harmless as these may seem, they can be harmful to your imagination because they are seeds. Your imagination is like soil, and whatever you allow there will germinate. Therefore, it is important to start cutting out the wrong content.

Secondly, you must spend time studying the Word of God and listening to faith-filled words. It is not enough to stop listening to or watching the wrong content; if you do not replace it with something else, something will still grow. Remember, your imagination is like soil—if the right seeds are not sown, then weeds will surely grow, because your imagination is fertile and ready to give birth to whatever is planted there. So, as you cut down on the wrong content, fill your imagination with the right content by studying the Word of God extensively and watching faith-filled materials. These materials are seeds, and they will form the right outcome in your life.

The third thing you must do to keep wrong imaginations away is to use your words. For example, when a wrong thought or imagination comes to you, use your words and rebuke such imaginations in the name of Jesus. When you do this, you uproot that which the enemy is trying to sow into your mind. At first, it may not seem like anything is happening, but trust me, you are disrupting the activities of Satan through your words. You must understand that words are seeds, and when you counter those negative imaginations or thoughts, you are uprooting the wrong seeds and planting the right ones. Don’t forget, the Bible says, “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you…” — Job 22:28 (NKJV). So, use your words, cancel that negative imagination, and paint the right one. Hallelujah!
