jesus, christ, saviour

“…now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, “we have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe…” John 20:24-25 (NKJV)

When our Lord and savior Jesus Christ rose from the dead, the Bible recorded that He appeared to His disciples. But when He did, Thomas was not there, so when he was told that Jesus is alive, he didn’t believe it. He said, “unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe…” John 20:25 (NKJV). Now, the reason he said this was because he experienced first-hand the death of Jesus Christ. He saw the way Jesus was beaten, wounded and pierced in His side. He saw the way Jesus was hung on the cross and how He gave up the ghost. He experienced everything, so it was difficult for him to believe that Jesus Christ had risen from the dead. He was so abreast with the realities of the death of Jesus Christ that he lost sight of the realities of the words of Jesus Christ, who already told them beforehand that He was going to suffer many things, be killed and would rise again (Matthew 20:18-19). He was so conscious of the realities of what He saw than in the realities of what Jesus had already told them. So when it was time to prove His faith in the words of the master, he failed woefully.

Today, many Christians are like Thomas, they put so much faith in what they can see than in what Jesus Christ had said. The realities they magnify in their lives are not the words of Jesus Christ, but the awful events going on in their lives. So they end up walking in unbelief like Thomas did. But today, I am writing this article to encourage you to look beyond the realities on the ground. Because they are not always the real deal. No matter what you see, experience or encounter in your life, if it is not in line with the words of God, refuse to accept it as the final deal. Because there is always more to it than meets the eyes. Refuse to be like Thomas and be the faith filled Christian that God wants you to be. As Christians, we don’t see first to believe, we believe even though we haven’t seen. That’s why Jesus Christ said, “…blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed…” John 20:29 (NKJV). The question is, the next time you are faced with a situation where your faith in Christ Jesus is put to test, will you be like Thomas or the man of faith God wants you to be? Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

No matter what you see, experience or encounter in your life, if it is not in line with the words of God, refuse to accept it as the final deal!

Confession for the Day

I refuse to be like Thomas waited to see Jesus Christ first and touched Him before he could believe. I choose to be a man of faith who believes without seeing. Therefore, every trace of unbelief is uprooted from my heart and banished for life in the name of Jesus. Amen!
