Tongue on fire

“Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you.”Proverbs 4:24 (NKJV)

As a Christian, one of the most important changes God is interested in, is in how you speak. He desires that you speak with grace and truth. Unfortunately, many people today are comfortable with speaking in ways that don’t reflect these values. Some are accustomed to telling lies, backstabbing others, and even stirring up strife among people. Others feel that speaking harshly or dishonestly is a sign of strength, but in reality, they are walking in error.

Beloved, remember that as a Christian, you represent the kingdom of God, and you carry His name. A mouth full of deceit does not represent His kingdom well, and it undermines the witness that others could emulate. People observe your words to assess your spiritual maturity, and those words will either earn you respect or diminish it. Even God listens to our words in order to bring them to pass (Isaiah 44:26), but if your speech is full of deceit, what will He have to work with? Nothing! So, it’s vital that you take this seriously and start watching your words.

Remove lies, curses, and vulgar language from your mouth. This is a decision you can make in a moment, and it has the potential to bring about tremendous change in your life. The Bible says, “Let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days (good—whether apparent or not) keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from guile (treachery, deceit)” (1 Peter 3:10 AMP). The question is, do you want to see good days? If so, work on your speech, and you’ll see the results.

Today’s Rhema

Deceitful lips do not represent the Kingdom of God!

Confession for the Day

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for Your grace and mercies. I thank You for opening my mind to the truth today. I declare that as I go about my daily activities, I will speak the right things and speak the truth at all times, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
