God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land. —Psalm 68:6 (NKJV)
One of the things you must avoid with all vehemence in your Christian walk is rebellion. The result is never good. I am not saying this to scare you, but to educate you on the dangers that come with it. Sometimes, we ignorantly rebel against God’s instructions and, in the long run, find ourselves struggling and facing the consequences.
A clear example is the story of Jonah. God sent him to Nineveh to deliver a message, but Jonah rebelled. Instead of going to Nineveh, he fled from the presence of God and went to Tarshish. While he was on the ship, a mighty storm arose because of him. In the end, the sailors had no choice but to throw Jonah into the sea, where a great fish swallowed him (Jonah 1:1-17).
Instead of ending up in Tarshish, Jonah ended up in the belly of a fish for three days. Why? Because he was rebellious. It was only after he got into trouble that he remembered God and prayed to Him from the belly of the fish. Imagine what he went through. He could have avoided it all if he had not rebelled.
As our opening text says, “…the rebellious dwell in a dry land” (Psalm 68:6). In other words, when you are rebellious toward God and His Word, you will end up in a place of difficulty and hardship.
The question now is, in which area are you currently in rebellion? Is it finances, relationships, attitude, or prayer? Is it in church or even in your marriage? Whatever the case may be, take these thoughts seriously and align yourself with God’s commands. Remember, obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22).

Rebellion will do you no good; avoid it with all vehemence!
Confession for the Day
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for educating me on the dangers of being rebellious. I declare this day that every spirit of rebellion and all rebellious tendencies are removed from me, because obedience is at work in me, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
