“…for I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of prophecy, God shall take away his part from the book of life…” —Revelation 22:18-19

One of the things we need to be very careful about as believers is exaggerating or listening to people, we know who exaggerate a lot. Exaggeration can injure or destroy nations, friendships, family members, companies, countries, etc. The funny thing about exaggeration is, that most people do it without thinking of the consequences or what it could lead to. People add more to matters than is necessary; for them, maybe it’s to make the matter more interesting or make themselves feel more important. Whatever the case, it’s wrong, and even God doesn’t like it. That is why the Book of Revelation warns us about adding or removing whatever prophecies have been written. Reported speeches can be very tricky, and that is why, as Christians, we should never listen to only one side of the story because the part you are listening to first may just be exaggerated.

Sometimes it could be hard not to add to a matter, but it becomes our responsibility to check what we are talking about when relating matters, especially if it is something to do with another person, or something that could lead to anger. Matters that are not reported properly can break homes and cause divisions. Things that are not supposed to occur will begin to occur because someone reported a matter wrongly and exaggerated a little. There is no little or big exaggeration; there can only be an exaggeration or no exaggeration at all. So you have to be careful in reporting matters. Exaggeration can mean removing the important part and adding something else of our own that didn’t happen. Apostle John knew this, and that was why he carefully warned the church, or anybody for that matter, not to add to the prophecy of the end times, which he gave. Because he knew that, adding a little or removing it would change and destroy the message that God wanted the church to know. Therefore, we also should take caution, ensuring that we do not exaggerate or fall for exaggerated stories. Praise God!

Today’s Rhema

There is no little exaggeration; there can only be exaggeration or no exaggeration, so avoid exaggerations!

CONFESSIONS FOR THE DAY

Holy Father, I thank you for sharing with us today a very important message about exaggeration. I declare that from today I will speak or relate matters with caution, so I do not bring problems to another by omission or commission, in Jesus name. Amen!
