Avoid a Lifestyle That Scriptures Do Not Support (2)

Person stands on brown pathway

“….Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life….” Galatians 6:7‭-‬8 (NKJV)

Having established the importance of avoiding any lifestyle that the scriptures do not support, someone might say, can’t I just be myself and still be a Christian? Must I abandon my lifestyle and adopt something new? Afterall, I am not a bad person and I am not causing any harm to anyone. Well, the truth is that this is not about being a good person or a bad person, it’s about building your life according to God’s principles and not your own opinion. In the book of Psalms 127:1, the Bible says, “….Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain…” Now, your life is like a house, and the way God can build your life, is when you believe what He said and you apply it in your life. God is not going to force these things on you. He gave us will, so that we can choose.

However, in choosing, you must remember that you are not wiser than God. If God, who is all knowing, has given us a recommendation on how we ought to live, it would be unwise to go in the opposite direction. When you receive Jesus into your life, you come into a Kingdom that has a lifestyle. You can no longer continue in the ways of the world now, because you have been delivered from the dominion of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13). The Bible clearly says, “…do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” Romans 12:2 ( NKJV). Meaning, God does not want you to conform or remain with the world’s ways of doing things. Instead, He wants you to adopt the kingdom ways and begin to renew your mind with the Word of God, so that you can completely disconnect yourself from the world.

So, I urge you to understand this truth and live by it. Do not be sentimental about it. Remember, even though you are in this world, you are not of this world, because our Lord Jesus Christ, already chose you out of the world (John 15:19). Therefore, align your life with this truth. Praise God!

Today’s Rhema

If you have received Jesus into your life, be disciplined enough to abandon the ways of the world!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for bringing light to my understanding. I refuse to be conformed to this world because I am not of this world. I choose to align myself with Kingdom principles and as I do this, I am flourishing on all sides in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
