“Teach me, Lord, what you want me to do, and lead me along a safe path, because I have many enemies.”Psalm 27:11 (GNT)

In our opening text, we see the heartfelt cry of the Psalmist. He asked the Lord not only to teach him what to do, but also to lead him along a safe path. Why did he pray like this? Because he recognized that without divine direction, he would be vulnerable—prone to error and exposed to the traps of his enemies.

Beloved, if you don’t want to fall into costly mistakes or become a casualty of the enemy’s schemes, you must learn to ask the Lord for guidance and leadership. One of the mistakes many believers make today is assuming that God will always guide them by default. But that’s not how it works. While God longs to lead us, He respects our will. He will not override it unless we surrender it to Him.

Often, God is already trying to guide us, but we’re not paying attention. We may be looking in the wrong direction or too focused on our own plans. That’s why it’s so important to intentionally seek His counsel—especially when making decisions, big or small. Never think any area of your life is too small to bring before the Lord. Once you have received Jesus as Lord, your life is no longer your own. As Scripture reminds us, “He died for all, so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but only for Him who died and was raised to life for their sake” (2 Corinthians 5:15 GNT).

Did you catch that? You are called to live for Him—and living for Him includes depending on Him for direction. When you ask for His guidance, your steps are ordered, your path is safe, and you remain aligned with His perfect will. In His will, there is provision, protection, and peace.

So make it your habit to pause and ask the Lord, “What would You have me do?” and “Which path should I take?” When you do, you’ll find yourself walking in wisdom and favor, no matter what challenges lie ahead. Hallelujah!

Confession for Today

Father, I thank You for opening my eyes to this truth. I choose this day to always seek Your guidance before I make any move. As I do, I receive clarity, protection, provision, and supernatural strength. I walk securely in Your will, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
