“While Joshua was near Jericho, he suddenly saw a man standing in front of him, holding a sword. Joshua went up to him and asked, ‘Are you one of our soldiers, or an enemy?'” — Joshua 5:13 (GNT)

Having established in the first part of this article the importance of standing for the church and not against it, it is crucial to take this matter seriously. It is not enough to simply identify as a Christian while engaging in actions that undermine the body of Christ.

There are two key areas we must be mindful of to demonstrate that we are truly for Christ and not against Him.

The first is the conversations we engage in. Today, it is common to see people deliberately initiating discussions that attack the church. When you encounter such conversations, how do you respond? Do you join in criticizing the church, or do you defend it? The right approach is either to walk away from such discussions or to speak up in defense of the church. However, it is often wiser to avoid these conversations altogether to prevent being influenced or drawn into error.

The second is to refrain from posting content that tarnishes the church’s reputation or discredits its activities. If you disagree with certain doctrines, that does not give you the right to spread content that fosters division. If something troubles you, ask God for understanding. If clarity does not come immediately, give it time and remain silent until you gain a proper perspective. Until then, do not position yourself as an enemy of the church.

Many people believe they are fighting for the church when, in reality, they are sowing discord without realizing it. As believers, our responsibility is to stand with the church, support its mission, and avoid engaging in controversies that divide the body of Christ. Always prioritize unity, and when you come across issues that seem troubling, take them to God in prayer rather than stirring strife.

Now, this does not mean we should turn a blind eye to wrongdoing. Rather, it means exercising wisdom in how we address matters to ensure that our response does not lead others—especially those still growing in faith—to stumble. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

Always prioritize the unity of the Body of Christ in all your dealings!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for reminding me of the importance of standing for the church and not against it. Today, I choose to align my actions with this truth. I will speak with wisdom, act with love, and uphold the unity of the body of Christ in Jesus’ name. Amen!
