“…you worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” —John 4:22-24 (NKJV)
In life, people generally fall into two categories: religious individuals and true worshipers. The question is, which one are you? Are you a religious man or woman, or are you a true worshiper? You might wonder about the difference between the two. There is actually a massive distinction, as one is the reality while the other is merely a shadow.
Being religious means holding onto the traditional practices of a particular faith. It involves keeping all the festival days and following laws without questioning why they exist. A religious person acts without personally knowing the God they are performing these rituals for. Religion is a roadmap designed to lead to God that never actually reaches Him. Conversely, being a true worshiper means knowing God intimately and maintaining a genuine relationship with Him.
True worship requires understanding what God desires and following Him on His terms rather than our own opinions. It means worshiping Him in spirit and in truth, navigating your faith through the Holy Spirit and His Word rather than your physical senses. This is the exact kind of life God wants for you. Therefore, you must make a conscious decision to reject mere religion and become a true worshiper. This single choice will transform your life and empower you to honor Him authentically.
As you journey through your Christian walk, pursue God with all your heart and seek to know Him deeper. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you. If this is truly your heartfelt pursuit, He will reveal Himself, creating a firm foundation for your walk with Him. Grow tired of religion and seek to know Him more. Hallelujah!
Today’s Rhema
To be religious is to follow a roadmap purposed to lead to God that never reaches Him, but true worship is finding God and knowing Him for yourself!
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I declare that from this day forward, I put aside every form of religion. I choose to embrace the reality of knowing You and building a deep relationship with You. I choose to worship You in spirit and in truth, rather than according to my senses or the dictates of this world. I know that as I walk this path, my life will move from glory to glory. Praise God!
