So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
—2 Corinthians 9:7 (NKJV)

Beloved, are you a grumbling giver or a cheerful one?

Anytime you hear about giving, what comes to your mind? Do you feel excited, or do you feel uncomfortable? Have you ever asked yourself these questions?

If you haven’t, I’m asking you now—and I encourage you to take some time to reflect. Until you do, you might be giving with the wrong attitude—grudgingly, rather than cheerfully.

So, who exactly is a cheerful giver?

A cheerful giver is someone who gives without complaints, without grudges, and not out of obligation. They give because they understand how their giving contributes to the expansion of God’s kingdom and positively impacts people’s lives. They give joyfully and look forward to every opportunity to do so. That is the heart of a cheerful giver.

Now ask yourself: is this you? Did I just describe you—or are you different?

Beloved, if you truly want to win the heart of God and stand out, you must choose to become a cheerful giver.

Years ago, before I caught the revelation of giving, I was critical of anyone who encouraged it. But everything changed when I prayed and asked God: “If giving really works, give me the seed to sow.” I said that because I genuinely wanted to give a particular seed but didn’t have the means.

To my greatest surprise, God sent provision from a source I didn’t expect. I gave that seed to God cheerfully—and I thought that was the end of it. But God surprised me again with an even greater supply that far exceeded what I gave.

From that day forward, I stopped being skeptical about giving. I embraced it joyfully. Over the years, I’ve never regretted this lifestyle. I’ve learned that cheerful giving is the way forward in God’s kingdom.

Many people still struggle with giving because they haven’t had a personal encounter that reveals how giving can truly change a person’s life. Once that understanding comes, they’ll no longer give grudgingly but with joy.

So today, I encourage you: be a cheerful giver.

Give because you understand its significance. Give because you know that your giving helps to advance the work God is doing in the lives of others.

Remember, money is an amplifier. Every time you give—even if it seems small—it makes a difference in facilitating God’s work.

Make a conscious decision to become a cheerful giver. And if you still feel uncertain, go to God in prayer. Ask Him to give you a personal revelation about giving. He will—because He’s not only a cheerful giver, He’s a lavish one. It’s His nature, and He desires for you to walk in His ways.

Hallelujah!

God does not just want you to give; He wants you to give cheerfully

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for opening my eyes to this truth. I choose to give cheerfully, and as I do, I receive a bountiful harvest, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
