“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” —Matthew 4:1 (NKJV)
In the opening text, we see an amazing statement that lets us know it was by the leading of the Holy Spirit that Jesus went into the wilderness. He did not decide to go there on His own. While He was in the wilderness, the devil came to tempt Him. He overcame all of Satan’s temptations because the Spirit of God led Him there; He was not on His own, nor did He randomly decide to go. This shows us that Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit in every move He made, and the same should apply to us.
Sadly, that is not the case for many of God’s people today. Many believers make decisions they are not supposed to make. They take up new ventures or enter new locations that God never asked them to enter. When they begin to face challenges, they start asking questions like, “God, why me?” “God, where are You?” or “God, why have You forsaken me?” They fail to understand that God never forsakes His children, nor does He ignore them. They simply did not seek the face of God before making their decisions or taking action.
So I ask you today: Did you ask God before you started that new venture? Was it God who asked you to go ahead with the plan, or did you decide by yourself because it looked good on the surface? You need to understand that when God leads you to do something, He knows you are capable of handling whatever obstacles you will face. That is exactly why He leads you there. However, when God is not the one leading you, you may end up in a place where you are not supposed to be.
When the Spirit of God leads you, you produce better results and are equipped to handle every situation that comes your way. I encourage you to do all that you do in the name of Jesus, ensuring that the Holy Spirit remains your ultimate guide. Praise God!
