For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” —Galatians 5:14 (NKJV)
I have often heard people say that the Ten Commandments no longer apply because Jesus paid the price for us. But Jesus Himself said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” (Matthew 5:17). As our opening scripture states, the law is fulfilled in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” If you love your neighbor, you will not steal from him, commit murder, or be covetous.
The big question is, who then is your neighbor? Many people believe their neighbor is just the person who shares their beliefs, culture or affiliation; but the truth is that everyone is your neighbor regardless of nationality, belief, or culture.
If you can love them, you have fulfilled the Father’s expectations. Interestingly, loving them is the only way you can help them see Christ in you. So, I encourage you today to walk in the consciousness of this truth. Love your neighbor as yourself, and you won’t do anything to hurt them or bring them pain.
Remember, when Jesus came to die, He didn’t come to die for Christians; He died for the whole world (John 3:16) because of His love for humankind. You too have a responsibility to love as He did, because “…the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:5, NKJV).
So, my prayer for you today is that your love will grow and that you will be filled with righteousness, as the Apostle Paul prayed:
…that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. —Philippians 1:9-11 (NKJV)
Today’s Rhema
You have a responsibility to love like Jesus Christ did!
Confession for the Day
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for pouring out Your love in my heart in great measure. I choose this day to love like Jesus did. By the power of the Holy Ghost, I will not be involved in anything that would hurt my neighbor, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
