A TIME TO PRAY, A TIME TO GIVE HIM THANKS

“…I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord…” Jonah 2:9 (NKJV)

While Jonah was still in the belly of the fish, he said, “…I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord…” Jonah 2:9 (NKJV) He did not complain or give up because of the situation in which he had found himself. Rather, he was talking about how he was going to sacrifice to God with a voice of thanksgiving. Now, when I first read this, I realized that what Jonah did there was a reflection of his mindset. He knew that even though he was in the belly of the fish, God had heard and answered his prayer; so he started talking about how he was going to give offerings with thanksgiving to God. In his mind, he had moved from asking God for help to receiving it. He understood that the prayers he had prayed while in the belly of the fish had been heard, so he was convinced enough to say he would sacrifice to the Lord with a voice of thanksgiving.

Now the question to you is, in your own challenges, do you know when to pray and when to start giving thanks? Or do you just keep praying, and when nothing happens, you get tired of praying? Well, you should learn to know when to stop requesting and start thanking God. The truth is that if you keep praying over and over concerning a particular thing because you have not received what you are praying for, it shows that the times you prayed, you never really received in your spirit. If you did, you should be thanking God now and not praying endlessly. Therefore, I encourage you today to take a break from asking and start thanking God. The secret behind this is that when you start thanking God, you move from the point of asking to receiving in your mind. And when this is the case, the desires of your heart will definitely manifest in the physical. Now, when I said take a break, I did not mean stop praying. I’m only saying, concerning that matter you have been asking God about, stop asking and start thanking Him, because from the very first day you started praying about that issue, God heard you. So start thanking Him now, sincerely, from the depth of your heart.

Confession for the Day

Gracious Father, I thank you because you always hear me. I appreciate you because you always plan the best for me. Therefore, I thank you for answering all my prayers. I declare that I’m walking in the manifestation of my answers in Jesus’ name. Amen!
