“…she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, If you will indeed look on the affliction of your maidservant and remember me, and not forget your maidservant, but will give your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life…”1 Samuel 1:10-11 (NKJV)

Beloved, are you going through some difficult moments in your life right now? Have you reached a point where all hope seems lost? Do not despair for I have news for you. Tap into the power of vows, it can make all the difference in your life today. A vow is one powerful mystery in the Kingdom that many of God’s people have not taken advantage of, either because they are ignorant of it or they don’t think it can make a difference in their lives. Well, if you didn’t know about it before, I am telling you now. The Bible spoke to us about the case of Hannah the wife of Elkanah who was barren for many years and couldn’t have a child. Her rival who was the second wife provoked her severely to make her life miserable and indeed she was miserable because she became very bitter.

But one day, she decided to do something different and she made a vow to God. The bible says she “prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, If you will indeed look on the affliction of your maidservant and remember me, and not forget your maidservant, but will give your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life…”1 Samuel 1:10-11 (NKJV). Did you see that? Earlier she was praying but there was no vow or sacrifice. When she decided to add a vow to it, something changed. The bible declared that “…Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “because I have asked for him from the Lord…” 1 Samuel 1:19-20 (NKJV). Did you see that? God honoured her vow and gave her a child and she also kept her vow and gave the child to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:24-25). Everything turned around for good because she was smart enough to make a vow. Beloved, you too can do the same thing and change that situation. All you have to do is think of something that you can make as a promise to God that will also be a sacrifice. Let the Holy Ghost guide you and when you do it, do it in faith. You will be amazed how that situation will turn around for good. Halleluiah!
