But because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth!” — Revelation 3:14-16 (GNT)
As a believer, one of the battles you face is the fight to make you spiritually cold. While this might sound strange, it is entirely true. The devil wants you to be spiritually cold because it makes your life a comfortable dwelling place for him and his cohorts. Once they settle in, they gain access to manipulate and afflict you.
The enemy knows that when you are spiritually cold, you cannot pray, fast, or even study the Word. He understands that the moment you lose your fire, you will lack passion and zeal for the things of God, stepping into a vulnerable place where you can easily be harmed. This is why many believers struggle with various situations in life, wondering why these things are happening to them. In some cases, believers even give up on the faith, claiming it has not really helped them. But is that really the truth? The answer is a resounding no.
Believers do not go through these situations because God is powerless or because His Word fails. The real issue is that they have grown cold. Think about cockroaches; as stubborn and destructive as they may be, they can never inhabit a gas stove that is on fire. The moment you light it up, those pests will disappear and never return. The same principle applies to you as a believer. The moment you turn on the fire in your life, all those complicated challenges piling up will gradually disappear because you have turned up the heat.
I encourage you today to fight daily to stay on fire for God. You can achieve this by being fervent in prayer, consistent in fasting, diligent in studying the Word, and passionate about soul winning. Most importantly, stay away from anything that makes you spiritually cold. Instead, be fervent in spirit, just as the Scriptures recommend in Romans 12:11 (NKJV). Praise God!

Father, I am grateful for opening my eyes to this truth. I decree today that the grace to stay on fire and aglow in the Spirit is at work in me, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
