Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. — Psalm 103:2 (NKJV)

As the year slowly comes to an end, what do you see? Are you looking at the disappointments you faced throughout the year, or are you focusing on what you have achieved so far? Ideally, we should focus on the latter, but sadly, many do not. Instead, people fixate on their disappointments and become discouraged, feeling their lives should be better than they are.

These individuals rarely stop to remember everything God has done and thank Him for it. They complain and murmur about all the expectations that did not go as planned. In the long run, this leads to ingratitude, which is never God’s plan for our lives. God has done so much for us, and He expects us to remember His goodness and give Him the glory.

Therefore, as Christians, we must recognize all that God has done and thank Him from the depths of our hearts. As the Psalmist declared in our opening text, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. — Psalm 103:2 (NKJV). Later, the Psalmist also says, I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. — Psalm 9:1 (NKJV).

This shows he deeply understood the importance of thanksgiving. He knew the right thing to do was to remember everything God had done and praise Him for it. As you continue in your walk with God, take time to regularly list what He has accomplished in your life and give Him the glory. He is completely worthy of all your thanks.

I know some people might struggle to find a reason to give thanks. After all, they may not have gotten the job they wanted, the finances they prayed for, or the life partner they fasted for. However, if you have life, sound health, and a future to look forward to, you have more than enough reason to be grateful. So, I admonish you today: remember all that God has done, count your blessings every day, and thank Him from the bottom of your heart. When you do this consistently, you set yourself up for continuous progress. Praise God!

Glorious Father, when I look at all the events that have happened in my life so far this year, I see that You have done so much for me that money cannot buy. Therefore, I thank You for Your lovingkindness!
