The world we live in has become a place where people often no longer care about each other. Too many would rather watch their neighbor in pain than offer a helping hand. Many people are starving despite having wealthy relatives, and children are being kicked out of school because their parents lack support. You even see young people turning to crime because poverty has overtaken their homes. Our society desperately needs individuals who show concern and act as a helping hand to their neighbors in any way they can.
As Christians, God wants us to be good to others, share what we have with those in need, and look for ways to do good in our communities. We cannot simply sit back and wait for the government to bring about change. True change starts with each of us contributing our part to the people around us and society at large. How you respond to a neighbor who asks for help and how you treat the poor are major factors God considers when deciding to give you the breakthrough you need in life.
You really don’t need to have much to help someone. The little you currently possess is enough to be a blessing to another person. The word of God says, “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” —Luke 16:10 (NLT).
Helping others with the little you have qualifies you for more. It proves that if God were to bless you with greater resources, you would continue to help, which compels Him to trust you with much more. Therefore, make a decision today to help those around you and make life better. Remember, “He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given.” —Proverbs 19:17 (NKJV).

Prayer
Dear Father, thank You for making me a helper to the world. Thank You for giving me enough to help someone around me. I take advantage of the grace You have given me to be of help to others, and I use it to influence my world and make life better for everyone, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
