He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. — Romans 4:20-21 (NKJV)
In times of difficulty, expressing your faith is your best chance of overcoming the situation. If you don’t express your faith, chances are you could come out defeated. Most times, God’s people express fear when they are faced with difficult challenges. They get so engrossed in the reality of their struggles that they slip into a place of fear and start speaking fear unconsciously. They often do not realize that they have left the arena of faith. As a child of God, you must be very conscious of this so that you don’t move out of faith and into fear.
No matter how tough or frightening your situation may seem, you have a responsibility to respond in faith. You must express that faith in both your words and actions. Do not allow the devil to deceive you into thinking it is over, and do not let him make you feel hopeless.
Maintain your stand in faith and take your eyes off the challenge. Instead, fix your eyes firmly on the Word of God. At this point, His Word is all you need to emerge victorious. If you do this diligently, your faith will grow stronger, and you will overcome the situation.
Therefore, no matter what you go through, make a conscious decision to express faith and not fear. You might say, “But I have been doing this, and nothing has changed.” Well, the only reason nothing has changed is that what you have been expressing is not true faith, but fear. If it were truly faith you were expressing, you would have already conquered.
I encourage you to express genuine faith in your situation and start speaking to it confidently. Know very well that when you do this long enough, your words will surely prevail. You might ask, “Just like that?” Yes, because the Bible says, …if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. — Matthew 17:20 (NKJV).
However, if you have done this and nothing has changed, you must consider adding fasting and prayer. This simply means you are dealing with a resisting force that requires a stronger spiritual force to conquer.
